There is a saying from long ago.
" Only those who value will preserve. "
It's a saying that's defined Northrå and its purpose since the beginning. In our world that so rarely chooses to do things the right way, because it is the slightly more expensive way, I wanted to make a change. And that's why I did.
It was in 2014 I first felt the joy of woodcraft, and in 2019 I first saw the destruction it can bring. Acres that were meant to be selectively cut for old growth hardwoods, replanted, and restored, were instead clearcut and left barren. It was then that I decided I would not let my passion be one of destruction, but one for good.
Northrå H&T was born from a triple pillars of passions. Passions for Craftsmanship, for Quality, and for Sustainability. The stunningly enduring nature of wood is one ingrained to the human spirit, it captures awe and eyes with the swirl of grain & texture.
As time goes on & the climate continues to be changed by force, I believe we can be a force of good through woodcraft. This motive is why it's built into Northrå to our core that 10% of each sale will be donated to reforestation, domestic and abroad.
Because with Northrå, the purpose of quality is worth far more than quality alone. That is my promise.
~ Cameron Frye | Founder
Northrå exists for one reason, and one reason alone. That reason is the desire to do good for the planet. The desire is the easy part, but the hard part is following through on such a goal. With so many facets which are out of our control, you're probably asking yourself "How do you possibly work sustainably?"
The answer to that question is simple: we optimize a 3 stage strategy. Materials, Shipping, and Donating. The lumber used is either made entirely of Carbon negative Hemp, or domestically harvested Timber. All metal hardware is sourced domestically. All packages are shipped with a Carbon Neutral option. And lastly, 10% of sales are donated to reforestation monthly, ensduring the lumber of one tree goes to grow hundreds.
